Who are our Padi partners?

Our partners are private corporations, non-government organizations, universities and Indonesian families who would like to host an international student at their office or home. Whether you have a project you would like to collaborate on, or you have an extra room to offer, we would like to explore possibilities. To add a new question go to app settings and press "Manage Questions" button.

What kind of organizations are students looking for?

Depending on their interest, interns are looking for different job opportunities. Some are looking for hands-on-practical experience in a corporate environment. Others are looking for cutting-edge, innovative work. Some interns are looking for work in a remote area, or work in an underprivileged community. Yet others, are working for experience in a specific area, such as writing, cultural exchange, community education, etc.

What do I have to do if I want to request a volunteer for my organization/company?

You can start by sending us an email and having a talk with us. Then, you will need to come up a specific project (or more) in mind and a mentor/ supervisor who will work directly with the intern. You will then need to fill out an inquiry form and work with our internship coordinator to design an intern schedule and a list of specific objectives and goals.

Do I have to pay to host a volunteer at my office?

Padi runs on voluntary basis and the contributions of partners and supporters. We charge a placement fee of 1 to 3 million rupiah (about $75-$250) for placing a volunteer which covers the cost of online management and site maintenance. Many of our volunteers are qualified students with relevant and strong work experience and skills. Since these students cannot be paid for their work in Indonesia, we are looking for ways to pay for their room and board expenses by asking host organizations or host families for support. Please see Get Involved.

What are my responsibilities as a host?

Depending on the arrangement, you will have different responsibilities. If you are hosting a volunteer at your office, we will work with you to prepare a detailed job description and list of responsibilities for your volunteer, to ensure that they achieve the results you are hoping for. You will also need to designate a mentor, who will work closely with the volunteer and our internship coordinator to ensure work is done and experiences are positive for everyone involved.

What are my responsibilities as a host family?

As a host family you’d be expected to provide room and board for the volunteer which may include a room, bathroom (can be shared), and a meal. Depending on your particular circumstances, and those of the volunteer, we will work out a plan that works best for everyone. Volunteers appreciate greatly staying with a host family and sharing cultural experiences, discussions, and language exchanges.

How are Padi Internships different?

Padi is interested in deepening the process of learning which is why we work to bring a greater measure of reflection, intention- and goal-setting for candidates. Padi also cares to complete internships that have a real and positive impact on the host organization, which is why Padi works hard during the pre-internship stage, to clarify goals, design an effective program, and SMART goals. Throughout the program, Padi stays closely engaged with interns and their mentors to provide assistance and support to their professional and personal wellbeing.
